Easter Sunday

John 20:1-18 was our text for Easter Sunday. Here's the podcast. Here are the discussion points that we used:
We view the story of Easter from the back side. Does this help us have more or less joy than the original disciples must have felt?

Jesus left the disciples a message that He was coming back. How do you think this message helped them? What does it say to us today?

Grief veiled Mary’s vision, but it was the voice of Jesus that gave her clarity. Are we in tune with our Shepherd that we know His voice? If not, how do we get there?

Where else is God speaking to you today?

Another nugget that Ryan caught and we talked about was this thought, "Mary was so focused on looking where Jesus wasn't, that she failed to look where Jesus was." Is that like us in any way?

Thoughts?

I got lost in the following labyrinth of thought:

Jesus left a very specific message for the disciples. One that he knew they would understand. On that he could leave because he intimately knew them.

Jesus was able to open Mary's eyes beyond her grief by a specific technique. A simple technique, but one he knew would work, because he knew her history, and he knew what would get the best response from her.

And I'm continually blown away that an Infinite God can have such mastery of the small, personal details.

And I wonder what signs, messages, and communication we miss today that are coming from a God who knows us so intimately, but we don't want to think they're from God, because they seem too personal or too obvious to us.

So that follow up that I 'eluded' to during the conversation last Sunday ended up as a blog post...

If you want to see, come on over...

Okay, I'll post on the teaching, but first I have to say that "For the Glory of it all" really hit me. When we sang "For the glory of it all, you are here," I stopped. I couldn't go on. It was great!! I felt alive, and comforted, even though I felt awful physically/mentally/emotionally/spirtitually.
Anyway, I thought that the teaching had a lot of great nuggets. I loved Ryan's thought, and I see many times when we aren't focusing on God in our lives. Even in the church...for instance, not seeing the potential in people. Looking only at their faults. Etc.
Also Thursday night was extremely awesome. I too noticed the 12 people thing...and it was so incredible to "feel" the stations. Eric was my partner, and we read the things outloud and shared with each other. It was so meaningful!
I wish I could say it more eloquently, but it's a thing I can't really explain how I felt...it was too amazing for words.
