Philippians 1

Tonight we started a new study, a walk through the book of Philippians. Here's the podcast and here's the questions that discussed.
Paul exemplifies two great character traits: 1) a life of joy; and 2) big picture view. How can you implement these into your life? How would your life look different?

How you react to situations is a testimony either to what God is doing in your life, or what you are trying to do on your own. What statement are you making with your life?

Whether free or in jail, Paul never falters in his mission of sharing the gospel of Jesus with others. Where is “sharing the gospel” in your list of priorities?

Please continue the discussion with us here online.

A life of joy and a big picture view, in my opinion, go hand in hand.

Think about this: when you think about every small detail of what must be done in the next 24 hours, how do you feel? Most often, I feel depressed, worried, anxious, or some other "down" feeling.

But, if I think about goals, dreams and visions for the next year, five years, ten years, or thirty years, I don't feel anxious at all. I feel hopeful, joyful, ambitious, and all sorts of goodness, sunshine and lollipops.

It's the same thing with a life of following Jesus. When you think about what is happening in current situations and all that is wrong with them and all that needs done to fix them, you're filled with downer thoughts. But, if you focus instead on the big picture and seeing how things might work together for the good, suddenly joy comes to you and overrides those downers.
